avocadoHosting a party, shin-dig, sorrier or perhaps a night of debauchery?  Looking for a quick and simple appetizer to make?  Check out our homemade “ULTIMATE” Guacamole DIP.

Whatever your party style is, food is always a key ingredient to a successful night.

Easy to make and always a crowd pleaser. Homemade Guacamole:

What you need:

  1. 2 or 3 ripe avocados
  2. Lime juice – freshly squeezed or bottled will work
  3. Table Salt / or Sea Salt
  4. 1 Mixing bowl
  5. 1 Fork or (mixer)
  6. 1 Knife

Directions:

  • Purchase 2 or 3 avocados that are ripe, (must be brown in colour and easy to squeeze)
  • Take your knife and slice around the avocados cutting into them enough to feel the pit inside (cut right around the entire avocados (around the highest standing point)
  • Twist one side of the avocado against the other side (like the motion of a rubric cube) – this method makes it easier to remove the pit.
  • Remove the pit – but keep it to use later.
  • Carve out the insides into a bowl
  • Add some lime juice (roughly 3-4 teaspoons should do)
  • Add about a half a teaspoon  of salt
  • Using a fork or mixer to  crunch and mix the avocados, salt and lime juice together until the texture is fairly smooth (free of any big lumps)
  • Viola! Homemade guacamole!
  • Grab a bag of your favourite tortilla chips and serve

Side notes: add the pit on top if you’re not serving it right away – this helps the guacamole from turning brown before your guests arrive.

You can always add more or less of the salt and lime juice depending on your taste preference, play around a bit….

If you’re into Games, you’ll want to add these two to your list of games to crack open when you’re entertaining.  The hours of laughter, is worth every penny that they cost.    They turn any night of entertaining into a hilarious evening of ultimate laughter…

ThingsTM

The game THINGS is easy to follow and  fun to play.  A card is read with an open ended question:  like… things you shouldn’t say to your friend, girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or wife.  Players then write down whatever comes to mind. One person reads out the answers given from the group and everyone has to guess who said what.  Sounds lame, but seriously this is one of the funniest games you’ll ever play.  Allows your creative juice to flow and the best part is getting to hear what’s inside some of your friends’ heads – it can be shocking. UJ GIVES THIS A 5/5

SingStar® for Playstation – Let this addiction into your life…

If you like karaoke or have ever wanted to be a singer this system is all that!  This game can keep you up until the wee hours of the morning.   You’ll need to purchase the console, mic and the discs of songs to sing (you might be able to rent it at local video stores).  Now this might be more on the expensive side then your typical board game but it is worth every cent.   There are lots of discs you can purchase and each disc has a good variety of tunes you and your friends will know. It doesn’t matter what age you are as there are tunes for everyone.  You can play this with one singer, two or in teams.  Basically, a song plays on your TV with its video in the background and the words appear on the screen (just like karaoke).  You just sing… the kicker here is that you’re being scored based on how well you sing (hit notes and know all the words) makes it challenging but keeps you wanting more.  Get two competitive people in a room and look out - the battle is on.  UJ GIVES THIS A 5/5
